GCP&T Opens Frank Seaman Park With Ribbon-cutting

GCP&T opens Frank Seaman Park with ribbon-cutting of paved trails spur, youth softball/baseball season

Greene County Parks & Trails (GCP&T) will celebrate the repaving of the Xenia-Jamestown Connector spur from the park site with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at approximately 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, during opening day of the Jamestown Youth Softball Baseball (JYSB) season at Frank Seaman Park, 4730 Cottonville Rd., Jamestown,.

The ceremony will follow the annual JYSB Parade, which will include a GCP&T Ranger as the Grand Marshall, into Frank Seaman Park.

GCP&T Director Jon Dobney says the park agency is happy to put multiple improvements into the eastern Greene County park.

“We consider Frank Seaman Park as one big backyard for eastern Greene County and beyond,” Dobney says. “We want our neighbors throughout the region to get outside and enjoy their parks and trails. It all belongs to them.”

In April, the Xenia-Jamestown Connector spur at the park was repaved while the trail from Waynesville-Jamestown to SR 72 in the Village of Jamestown underwent a full-depth restoration.

GCP&T Senior Manager/Projects Chuck Frazier adds Frank Seaman Park has received multiple improvements since last season’s sports season.

“Other improvements to GCP&T’s Frank Seaman Park includes the replacement of six backstops, improving drainage at the park, chip sealing of the parking lot and renovating the Jamestown Lions Club Gazebo,” he says.

All work was funded by the GCP&T levy.
